Visually Speaking is a DeafQueer-owned small business in Seattle, dedicated to making American Sign Language (ASL) accessible and fun for all. Since 2002, we’ve been “servicing fingers” through engaging ASL classes, immersive Voices Off events, and private lessons—both online and in-person. Our experienced Deaf instructors provide a supportive, culturally rich learning environment where students of all levels can build confidence in ASL and deepen their understanding of Deaf culture. ASL Classes & Events with Visually Speaking

  • Private Online Lessons – One-on-one ASL instruction with experienced Deaf instructors, tailored to your learning style. Flexible scheduling. $65/hr 
  • 6-Week Online Class – Learn ASL Basics or Level Up your skills with live Deaf instructors in a small group setting. Meets once a week for an hour. $99
  • 6-Week In-Person Class (Seattle) – Immerse yourself in ASL with live instruction in Tacoma or Capitol Hill. $125
  • Voices Off Events – Practice ASL in a fun, immersive environment with the Deaf community. 
  • Create Your Own Online Class – Gather friends or colleagues for a custom ASL class (min. 5 participants).
Course Catalog

Visually Speaking’s instructors bring a wealth of experience and passion for American Sign Language and Deaf culture. Our team includes Deaf ASL users, Parents of Deaf Children, Certified ASL Interpreters, Early Childhood Educators, Certified Teachers, CODAs, and Advocates. With a strong commitment to accessibility and education, we’ve taught thousands of families across Washington State and beyond. Every instructor is fluent in ASL, with at least two years of ASL education and extensive knowledge of Deaf culture.
