Jewish Drag Icons: Then and Now:
Presented by: 14th Street Y | Cosponsored by CBST, Keshet, Lab/Shuel and Reboot
Date & Time: Wednesday June 24th, 2026 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm EST
Location: 14th Street Y, 344 East 14th Street New York, NY 10003
About the Event: Get ready for a night of bold, bawdy Jewish drag! Journey through the history of Jewish drag icons over the last century, enjoy a live Jewish drag show with master performers Yochai Greenfeld, Alvah Klempt, Matzah Belle Soup, and Miryem-Khaye Siegel, and cap off the evening with a celebratory Pride dance party. Join us for a conversation with Golan Moskowitz about the little-known history of Jewish drag in the U.S.–from Yiddish drag kings in the early 1900s to the iconic performers and activists of the 1960s and beyond (hello, Sadie, Sadie the Rabbi Lady!)–and the diversity of Jewish drag today. Through stories and film clips, we’ll explore the intersection of drag and Judaism, celebrate the icons of the past century, and explore the provocative questions this art form has always raised.
Then, because no conversation about drag is complete without live performance, we’ll present a full-blown Jewish drag show! Hosted by drag artist Yochai Greenfeld, the evening will feature performances by Alvah Klempt, Matzah Belle Soup, and Yiddish drag king artist Miryem-Khaye Siegel for an unforgettable celebration of fabulous Jewish culture.
Finally, we’ll close the night with a dance party, so stick around to keep the Pride celebration going!
