About the Event: The TCS New York City Marathon, hosted by New York Road Runners (NYRR), is the world’s largest marathon. Since its start in 1970 with 127 participants, over 1.2 million people have finished the race. It expanded to all five boroughs in 1976 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021. Held annually on the first Sunday of November, the marathon features over 52,000 runners, from elite athletes to charity participants, from about 140 countries. The course spans all five boroughs, starting on Staten Island and ending in Manhattan.
