About the Event: Join First Unitarian Brooklyn’s Unitarian Universalists for Justice in the Middle East chapter, Jewish Voice for Peace NYC, the NYC-DSA Anti-War Working Group, Showing up for Racial Justice NYC, and Brooklyn for Peace for a vital conversation with Rashid Khalidi, one of the world’s foremost historians of the Middle East. Through a talk and moderated dialogue, we will explore the roots of the current crisis and discuss the path toward a sustainable future for Palestine.

Program

• Doors will open at 1:30pm, program begins at 2pm. 
• Featured Talk: A keynote by Rashid Khalidi on the history of Palestine.
• In Conversation: A dialogue between Professor Khalidi and Reverend Meagan Henry, reflecting on her recent travels to Palestine and the current situation on the ground.
• Q&A Session: An opportunity for audience engagement.
• Community Connection: Time to meet with local action groups and fellow attendees.

About the Speakers

Rashid Khalidi is the Edward Said Professor Emeritus of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and the author of ten books, including The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine. A former President of the Middle East Studies Association and co-editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies, he is a leading voice in Palestinian history and scholarship.

Reverend Meagan Henry serves as the Associate Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock. She holds a Master of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School and recently returned from a journey to Palestine.

• Subway: Jay St (F), High St (A), Borough Hall (4, 5, R), or Clark St (2, 3).
• Parking: Street parking is free on Sundays; please allow extra time to find a spot.

In-Person Accessibility

• Mobility: The sanctuary is accessible via a wheelchair lift. There are 9 steps at the main entrance. Gender-neutral bathrooms are available via lift and stairs.
• Seating: Standard wooden pews, with folding chairs and cushions available. Dedicated wheelchair seating is located in the front and back.
• Health: Masking is encouraged as your needs allow. A fragrance-free seating section will be provided.
• Communication: This event will have ASL interpretation. Volunteers will be on-site to assist with access needs.
