Moving Through Panic Into Regulation

Promotional banner reading “CFM Presents: Moving Through Panic Into Regulation, facilitated by Vanessa Rochelle Lewis, October 12, 2026, 5:00pm–7:00pm PT | 8:00pm–10:00pm ET,” framed by a hand-drawn border of green leaves and red and turquoise berries on white crinkled paper.

Times are increasingly difficult and many of us who are empathetic, living on the margins, and collective-care oriented are dealing with increased emotional and systemic distress. Sometimes, that distress causes a grief so heavy it pushes us out of regulation and over the edge. This workshop is for anyone who wants to show up for someone they love, serve, or organize within a moment of emotional crisis, but is worried that they won’t know “the right thing” to say or that they might make it worse.

Together, we’ll explore what it actually means to support someone who is in the midst of overwhelm, anxiety, or deep distress (regardless of what that looks like) — from a healing informed praxis. We’ll practice how to listen with compassion to understand, respond with care instead of urgency, and help ground someone without minimizing their experience or trying to fix it. We’ll also unpack how to circumvent the shame, fear, and cultural difference that can sometimes get in the way of our heart and intention.

Participants will leave with language, tools, and real-time practice that builds confidence, so when the moment comes, you can stay present, supportive, and steady. This space is especially for those engaged in community care, social justice, and healing work who are carrying both personal and collective weight.
