Trans 101 For the ASL Community and Interpreters

This workshop offers a primer into terminology and information related to the transgender community. This is a foundational, entry level course that employs interactivity and encourages co-learning to learn about a stigmatized an socially marginalized population. The workshop is segmented into introduction/norms, terminology, gender, transitioning, and barriers faced by the community. The only prerequisites are an honest willingness to learn, a desire to commit to social justice, and an open mind. The aim of the training is to improve knowledge of trans communities and build empathy.
